Busy, busy week. On Wednesday I went for the American Maths Competition selection trial and realised I'd forgotten most of what I'd learnt during tuition - forgot how to do the question with the triangle and three circles though I'd probably done it millions of times last year, and others. I think I will probably fail, but at least it was rather fun. After that I went for guitar, and since I wasn't planning to do SYF I was stuck with the newbie class (not that I'm complaining, it means I don't really have to do anything much yet) until end of CCA. My guitar's strings are rusty, but my fingers have got used to them already. On Thursday we did not have PE, which was fantastic because I still haven't recovered from Wednesday's jumping session. On Friday I gave up watching the Merchants Of Cool screening to go for CCA with Feiya. We first headed for bridge, but as we were rather intimidated by the sea of white uniforms, we chickened out and went to weiqi instead, where there were not enough boards for everyone. Thus we watched and I attempted to learn rather unsuccessfully. I have no idea what I am doing there, honestly. After CCA met up with RJ people to go to J8 to meet Eunice and Hanyin for dinner. We went to Delifrance (I had Mcdonalds because I am a cheapskate) and talked and the RJ people at my table attempted to be interesting. The HC people seem to have a more interesting school life than us. I didn't really succeed at being interesting because all I could think of to talk about was the horrible lifts.
In other news, I am moving to lj now, which is rather more convenient, since today's events are not meant for public consumption. Will probably just leave this thing here, because I am too lazy to save my archives and all.

Watched American History X on Thursday, and on Friday stayed back with the intention of attending the bridge clinic. We'd heard that bridge was biased against girls, but we hadn't expected the entire room, when we finally found it, to be packed with white. After we (rather thick-skinnedly) walked in some guy passed us the written test, which had questions like, What is your opening bid for S:AKJ10 7, H:AQ6, and so on. They had about six or seven of these questions. After that the questions were all on definitions. We took one look at it and nearly gave up. Then I had the bright idea of cheating ("integrity and honour!"), so we scooted to the computer lab and attempted to google the terms. From what I can remember, the list went, not in any order:
Blackwood Stayman Michael's Cue Transfers Doubles Redoubles Preempts Finesses Forces Transfers Splinters and some more I can't remember. I do remember clearly, however, that even with the definitions it was terribly difficult to understand. So we left a few blank and pretended that we weren't really cheating. And, just in case, we invented our own partner system. (Any volunteers to test it out?) This all confused me terribly, so in the end I decided that I wasn't really cut out for bridge, and Feiya pulled me into the weiqi room, and the people there made me play weiqi, which was quite fun, actually, though I felt terribly stupid and myopic while doing it. In the end no one won or lost, since the clinic ended before we could reach a resolution, which was probably good since I think I would have lost badly anyway.

On Saturday, I woke up at an insane time (for Saturday and me, at least) to watch RahXephon in the morning. Then I had a really nice lunch (compared to the food over here!) and then went to the Japanese Association for the Nihongo De Asobou thing organised by JUGAS. There were five games - dengon, sentence construction, charades, and I can't remember the last one. Our group won the rensou game, and we got popcorn, a pouch, and Hichew as the prize.
On Sunday, nothing interesting happened, except we went to look at lighting and stuff. On Monday, I crashed _'s house after school, and was greatly entertained. Crashing houses is fun. Today, I realised that tomorrow I will have to split myself up into two at least. I went for pistol trials after school, I think I did quite well. I managed to get four out of five shots into the top right quarter of the circle, and none were outside the circle at all, and I got all five shots into the paper. After that I rushed back to school and signed up for crew. I think my Wednesdays are overloaded. I have a tea session next Wednesday plus selection trials plus faction CNY decoration competition to attend, and probably guitar plus Jap too. Tomorrow I have guitar briefing, Jap club, and faction CNY decoration competition briefing. My CC, apparently, has ninjado classes. I think maybe I should go sign up, the kagebunshin no jutsu part should come in useful.

Today I attempted to crash, rather unsuccessfully, someone's house. It was hilarious, really, like everything else right now, since we spent most of the time attempting to hide. Hilarious is going to become my word of the day soon. During GP Andrea and I were bored and doing spelling, and Andrea asked the tutor for long words for me to spell, and the tutor just looked oddly at me (I think she thinks I'm nuts, quite rightly). Then after a while she asked, out of the blue, "Do you know the word zeitgeist?" Only she pronounced it like "zeetgeest", which is incorrect. And like almost nobody else knew what it was. So I was proud of myself, very fleetingly, before I remembered the disastrous colours speech. We had height and weight today as well, and after that I dragged some people to play games with me. We ended up playing basketball (very badly, in my case) which spilled over into our break. During the lunch break, I went to the library and listened to nice music while reading Death: The High Cost Of Living, which I haven't finished and will probably spend all my breaks reading.
Wednesdays are almost always interesting, they are my favourite day of the week. I think I am getting used to the school building, I am no longer getting lost, I hope. I can't decide whether or not to move to LJ, where I have the option of friends-locking, which is unfair. Yesterday Actually I can't remember what happened already, but I remember that I followed Andrea home because I was bored (I have the boredom threshold of a three year old) and she played the guitar (very very well) while I watched in awe and wept at own ineptitude. Speaking of guitar! Today, out of impulse, I signed up for Guitar. I think I need to smash my head into a wall now. I feel drunk. I signed up for Bridge and Jap too. Oh, and we had our very first Chem Prac. RJ still uses the old tap burettes, and all the MG girls hadn't used them before because MG is rich and can afford new stuff, so that was amusing. The distilled water bottles from RGS are better than the RJ ones. I got strange titration values. And we got let off early from GP. Monday, the Day Before Yesterday We went to J8 to look for Zhiyi's present, after being let off early by sensei. Our senior class seems quite cool, and very jappie. Saturday 15th January Met OG mates at City Hall MRT at 430PM, was only five minutes late. I was the fifth person to arrive, and we waited till about 445PM before deciding to head for East Coast Park. We walked out to the busstop opposite Suntec and waited aeons for 16. By the time it arrived it was already too late for us to rent bikes, so we turned back and walked to Eng Wah to check out the movies. We'd originally wanted to watch the Aviator, but the showtime was too late, so we checked up other showtimes. It turned out that Plaza Sing was showing The Aviator at a suitable time slot, so we decided to make our way there. We went up to the GV there and found out that it was fullhouse, so we ended up watching My Brother instead (Han Long had wanted to watch Where Is Mama's Boy, ohthehorror.) My Brother was typical Korean (Love triangle! Character/s suffers mishap at the end!) It was generally rather boring and unremarkable, and quite predictable. The high point was the Aspirin poem, which was terribly painful and amusing at the same time. I shall avoid using the word "hilarious", because it is starting to become a sort of abuse.

We should have our own Project Anarchy.
* Does anyone else want to join the bridge club? Or the one that gets involved in business competitions? Because they'll probably have tryouts for shooting and archery and I have the very bad aim because I can't keep my hands steady. One thing for certain is that I am certainly not joining any proper, involving-physical-activity sport, because I already end at four every day except Wednesday. * I probably will drop Jap when I lose my LEP scholarship because of bad O Level results, because even though the immersion is attractive I am certainly not willing to pay for it myself, and I would rather take Econs because I like Econs better. I can't drop it now because of all the paperwork involved. It seems I always make the worst decisions for myself, like in the case of LITgeog (the geog part turned out all right and good in the end but I have a suspicion I am going to flunk Lit). I guess I'll have to cross my fingers (and hope to die! Well, that is only if I crossed my heart and stuck a finger in my eye, which I will not ever do willingly.)

After school, Feiya, Elsie and I went to J8 originally to wait for Janice. It turned out we had to wait for her because she was crashing Physics, so we decided to go to KKnM ourselves to look for Zhiyi's present. After that, we walked to Dhoby Ghaut where we sat down and played bridge. Managed to find us a fourth player, whose name, as it turned out, was Gay. And the point is, he always always always got good cards, so everyone wanted to be his partner! I won once playing with Gay, I think. This thing is a secret, of course.
[edit] No, Janice didn't crash Physics after all. Apologies for misinformation.

Right now there is: 1)an apparently undeletable-by-losers file lodged in my hard drive taking up nearly one and a half gigs of space yet shows up as 0 bytes, and 2)this large group of students gathered around a pathetic not-even-a-campfire cheering and clapping, and it would have been their screaming that irritated me most, if the file I do not know how to deal with had not been there. This is annoying. I really, really, really wish they would stop screaming before I kill myself, or something.
[edit] The file isn't so irritating now when you compare it to the fact that they have just started to sing very badly on top of their screaming and I think I am going to die. I hate living next to a school.

My class is less of a class than of a collection of various unconnected people and one or two small cliques, and I don't really like the part of my OG that still meets, the part that sings Chinese pop songs. So today, again, I had nothing to do. Feiya very generously treated lunch, and after that I had to rush for piano class, where I probably disappointed my teacher again because I kept on screwing up the sixths, in C and D major some more.

Spent first two slack days of school exploring and discovering how suicide-friendly the campus actually is - the railings are low and easy to climb over, and the door to the roof is perpetually unlocked. Also we found the school is terribly easy to sabotage, the server room and the lift motor control room etc are easily accessible. Yesterday I spent most of first block walking around with Andrea, Huimin, and various other people who I cannot really remember, probably Alissa from my class. The other Andrea (oh dear, now the problem of which is the other Andrea arises!) and Clare the twelver made a brief appearance as well. We had Chem and Math in that order, then after school I followed Feiya to her OG K'cove and ended up playing bridge with Yvonne and her OG mates instead. Today, we had Physics which was as boring as the previous two subject lectures since everything was introductory, and I realised to great consternation that I have forgotten all my math techniques, which is terrible news. I guess I will have to get used to doing Math and Chem properly all over again, which is going to be difficult since I have more or less been letting my brain degenerate for the good part of one and a half months, and my mental processes have probably regressed to the level of a retarded three year old kid's. This is disastrous. After Physics, I met the HC crashers in the canteen for a while, then after they left I went to the roof and saw the stupid (not stupid as in derogatory term, but really, like, retarded) bird on the way up. It kept flying against the glass, when there was an open window right below it and an open space on the wall opposite. Got caught by teacher-ish person on way down from roof, very unfortunately, but won't stop me from doing it again, hope the school doesn't decide to very unsportingly lock the door. After school I headed down to the Mercy Relief Centre at Lowland Rd to help pack boxes, which was actually the former site of a school with a design very similar to old-Rosyth's. It was quite fun, actually. The best part was when we got to laugh at people with no fashion sense at all, and deciding whether certain clothes were for girls or boys - like there was one shirt was white and baby blue and had a small blue bow tie, and except for the tie it looked as though it could have been worn by a girl. Though I suppose at that age there isn't much of a distinction. We had to reject stuff like bikinis (which I thought were a bit insensitive) and weird things like curtain cords that could have been a skirt if you squinted hard enough at it in dim light, and some clothes with really really bad taste, like this black stocking with pink flowers & green leaves embroidered all over the sides, which was terribly amusing. There was even a Spiderman outfit, and three sets of jerseys from different football teams. I left after slightly less than two hours, but I think the eleveners managed to get us CIP hours, trust them to manage that.

I find this terribly amusing, it keeps contradicting itself -
+ The sun represents vitality, a sense of individuality and outward-shining creative energy. Sun in Libra She has a great need to be part of a group (I remember cheating for IRS). She likes to mix with people and looks for partnerships. She likes and respects justice. She approves of society's values. She is level-headed and assimilates quickly. Weaknesses: does not think enough, she is frivolous. A dilettante in love. She is easily swayed by group pressure. Libra ascendant Scorpio Sun in XI Successful career thanks to support of patrons, friends or relations. Knows how to choose her circle. -203 Opposition Sun - Mars She is violent, impulsive. She throws herself headlong into situations without ever thinking of the consequences of her actions. This can cause a lot of problems. She cannot stand still and channels badly the energy which she possesses. 40 Trine Sun - Jupiter She has high social ambitions, respects justice and the law. She is tolerant, optimistic, kindly. She has every chance for professional success in a strictly legal setting. -27 Square Sun - Neptune Her imagination turns to internal day-dreaming: she is easily influenced, and complicates life unnecessarily. She does not bring plans to a conclusion. The dream-world is enough. The moon represents a reaction, unconscious pre-destination, and the self-image. Moon in Aries She is autonomous, emancipated, courageous. Self-assured, with energetic activities. She is ambitious and enthusiastic. Weaknesses: impulsiveness, domination, aggressiveness, great impetuousness. Constant changing of job. Moon in VI Will never be a leader (How tragic. I don't want to be a minion!), but succeeds in being the right-hand of an important person. In most cases, she is an employee, worker etc. She likes the country, respects Nature and likes animals. -148 Opposition Moon - Mercury She is happy in her imaginary world and thus is happy nowhere, because she can never find her ideal world - thus causing a lot of change, instability and also disquiet. She is a liar, a gossip and leaves herself open to criticism. Her lies save her. If the other aspects allow, she can be a very good novelist.(Other aspects being, perhaps, no literary flair whatsoever?) 153 Trine Moon - Venus She is gracious, sweet and gay. She likes pleasure and entertainment, but also the Arts. She needs tenderness, 53 Trine Moon - Saturn She controls her feelings. She has a sense of duty, of self-esteem and is prudent. She can concentrate on a long-term task, manual or intellectual. She perseveres and is serious in everything she does. 38 Trine Moon - Uranus She is imaginative and has the Moon's intuition complemented by Uranus' independence and originality. Her life is out-of-the-ordinary, with lots of changes and a great knowledge of the world not through reading but through personal experience. She likes the sensational, new things. She acts instinctively, but fortunately has a good sixth sense. She likes to be surrounded by original people, artists. Mercury represents communication, Cartesian and logical spirit. Mercury in Libra With big ideas, she evaluates and weighs things up. Of good judgement, she expresses herself clearly. Before coming to an opinion on a subject, she listens to the opinions offered by various people and can compare them before making up her own mind. Weaknesses: she is happy-go-lucky and phlegmatic. The spouse can be unfaithful. Partnerships are unprofitable. Mercury in XII She has difficulty expressing herself, especially when young. Does not talk much, she does not speak for the sake of it. She works in remote and quiet places. She is discrete and philosophical. 225 Sextile Mercury - Saturn 204 Sextile Mercury - Uranus She is perspicacious, ingenious: she binds intelligence and originality together with genius. She likes literature, especially fiction. She is spontaneous in her friendships and knows how to take advantage of the situations that arise. Venus represents an interest for emotions and values, exchange and sharing with others. Venus in Leo Sincere, frank and warm affections. She is full of tenderness. High hopes of love. She likes to live and satisfy her passions to the full. Protects and makes friends with those who can be useful. Weaknesses: excess in pleasure and amusements. Haughty, boastful, pretentious: Venus in X Her best years are in the parental home and also the last years of life. That said, the rest are not unhappy, but contain certain hurdles. Love can help in professional life, 40 Trine Venus - Saturn She has a good grasp of reality and of duty. She is thrifty, reserved and does not show off. She likes truth and justice. In love, her sentiments are sincere and deep, she never plays false. She is, of course, faithful in love and friendship. She can love a much older person and appreciates her intelligence and good sense. 28 Trine Venus - Uranus independent in love. Her love life is rich, but with passing love affairs. She tires quickly and is scared of losing her liberty. If she marries, she will regret it. She has that little something that attracts the opposite sex: she likes amorous adventures, she is romantic. She is the eternal lover and, of course, is unfaithful if she has a serious relationship. She likes art, anything new. (ROTFL) Mars represents the desire for action and physical energy. Mars in Aries She is aggressive, offensive, impulsive, provoking. She is bold and adventurous. Weaknesses: aggressiveness, boldness that can lead to violence, or to an accident, but certainly leads to problems. Mars in V Spontaneous nature. She likes games, sometimes even violent sports. She takes professional risks. A great worker, she likes everything that can be done quickly, and detests things that hang around for a long time. It is the same for her emotional life: no candy-floss or fine speeches, she gets directly to the point. 205 Sextile Mars - Jupiter She has a good sense of organization, she is jovial, frank and sincere. She is full of dynamism and over-abundant energy. She loves life and takes all it has to offer. She likes sports and the outdoor life. She is successful professionally and emotionally. -82 Square Mars - Neptune Jupiter represents expansion and grace. Jupiter in Gemini Very good education, she is also a good talker. She likes to travel, to write, to increase her knowledge. Weaknesses: likes to puff herself up with grandiose speeches or fine words. Does not listen to others but likes to be listened to. Jupiter in VII She makes a good marriage (CONTRADICTION DINGDINGDING), with a useful partner who helps to bring success if only by his advice. She never goes outside the bounds of legality. Saturn represents contraction and effort. Saturn in Sagittarius She has her own way of thinking about a subject, she has her own ideas about things. She respects society and its rules guide her conduct. Weaknesses: hard, unforgiving, rigorous, insensitive and sometimes inhuman. A limited and narrow mind. Saturn in II If she is rich, will always give the impression of being in financial difficulties. If she is broke, she gives the same impression - this time with reason. She has difficulty earning money (hello, impending poverty.): her work is tiresome and laborious. 261 Conjunction Saturn - Uranus She knows how to be on top of the situation. She perseveres, is determined but ingenious and original. She is very practical. She proceeds slowly, but is always bound to achieve her objectives in the end. Uranus represents individual liberty, egoistic liberty. Uranus in Sagittarius She is shy, delicate but proud, bold and lively. Uranus in II She has a lot of flair. She is unreliable at work, always ready for change. She must have an out-of-the-ordinary job, in which case all goes well: otherwise, she will often change jobs and will have financial problems. (Fine I get the point!!) Neptune represents transcendental liberty, non-egoistic liberty. Neptune in Capricorn She is discerning, wise and sensible. Neptune in II She develops her "brilliant" but questionable ideas to earn money. (Where? I want also!) 25 Sextile Neptune - Pluto 9 Sextile Neptune - Ascendant She has strange relationships (indeed). She is easily influenced, very sensitive and emotional. Pluto represents transformations, mutations and elimination. Pluto in Scorpio Great sexual activity. (WTF, this thing is screwed. 0____0) 58 Conjunction Pluto - Ascendant She has will-power and ambition, and likes to have her own way. House I is the area of self identity. The ascendant is a symbol of how one acts in life. It is the image of the personality as seen by other, and the attitude that one has of life. Libra ascendant Scorpio Ascendant in Scorpio Emotional life certainly very changeable. Lovers will come and go, and then come back again. Sexuality is very important for her, for her stability. House II is the area of material security. House II in Sagittarius Social success in one of the professions or in an import/export company dealing regularly with foreign countries. House III is the area of social and intellectual learning. House III in Capricorn Nothing is left to chance, everything is calculated, dissected slowly and methodically, twice rather than once, in peace and quiet by herself. She is introverted, and doesn't speak about her plans until they are underway. House IV is the area of action and emotion. House IV in Aquarius She will leave the family home reasonably young. Likes liberty, wants a life that is out-of-the-ordinary, and certainly one that does not correspond with mum and dad's. House V is the area of self-security. House V in Pisces With lofty feelings, she is full of tenderness, sentimentality. Things do not always go her way. A meeting with a person who is either not free, too young or from a different family or social background means that living together will be done in the utmost secrecy while waiting for the chance to legalize the situation quietly, without any trouble. This state of affairs will make her melancholy. A lovely little family will result from this union. House VI is the area of learning by material transaction. House VI in Aries Ability to command, knows how to take up her responsibilities at work. Weak point: headaches, fevers. House VII is the area of social et intellectual action. House VII in Taurus Marries for love but also well financially. A peaceful union even if exchange of ideas isn't always smooth. House VIII is the area of emotional security and of security of the soul. House VIII in Gemini If she is a writer, a painter or involved in another of the Arts, and if fame doesn't come when living, then it will come posthumously. (Too bad I can't write or draw.) Small inheritance from near relations. Take care of the lungs - if a smoker, then it is advisable to stop. House IX is the area of learning that shapes the identity. House IX in Cancer Fertile imagination. She is easily influenced. Likes travel, especially cruises. House X is the area of material action. The Mid-heaven represents the work one will do in his life, the place one will take in the world of society. It becomes more important as one grows older House X in Leo All the leadership qualities are there: authority, sense of organization, initiative, intelligence, but also thanks to outside help. She is a fighter. House XI is the area of search for social and intellectual security. House XI in Virgo Friends must resemble her, anyone having different ideas or ways of doing things cannot be friends. Discussing ideas is not her cup of tea. Her knowledge is the result of study but also of the down-to-earth nature that characterizes her. House XII is the area of education and of emotion. House XII in Libra Marriage doesn't bring luck, honors come as she imagined they might.
